Introduction
Bitmain has closed the ability to install third-party firmware in the factory firmware starting from March 2024, you need to downgrade the factory firmware to an earlier version to install VNISH firmware
FOR 21 series: Download the stock bitmain recovery image for S21, T21, S21hydro, S21+hydro, S21xphydro from February 2024, after installing which you can install the firmware Vnish using the utility VNISH TOOLKIT for flashing without an SD card directly into the miner’s NAND.
FOR S21+/S21pro/S21xp/S21_imm/S21xp_imm models: you need to download and use the image from S19xp after installing which you can install the firmware Vnish using the VNISH TOOLKIT utility for flashing without an SD card directly into the miner’s NAND.
FOR 19/L7 series: Download the SD recovery image for the required miner model and control board type (Xilinx, amlogic, BB, cvitek) from our website, after installing which you can install the Vnish firmware using the VNISH TOOLKIT for flashing without an SD card directly into the miner’s NAND.
FOR L9 series: Download bitmain recovery image for 21 (archive contains images from T21 amlogic and cvitek control boards).
Instructions for installing the recovery image
- You must use a flash drive or SD card with a capacity of up to 32GB and format it to FAT32. It is recommended to use a USB flash drive with an OTG adapter for AMLOGIC control boards.
- Unpack the archive for your type of control board into the root of the flash drive (sd card).
- Connect the SD card or OTG adapter with the flash drive to the switched off miner.
- Turn on the miner and wait until the green LED on the front panel of the miner lights up (and stays on). This will mean that the firmware process has been completed successfully. This process takes no more than one minute.
- Turn off the miner’s power and remove the SD card or OTG adapter with the flash drive from the control board.
- Turn on the miner’s power and wait for it to boot, then use VNISH TOOLKIT following instructions in point 9 to manually specify the model of your miner in the “Miner model” field and install pre-downloaded vnish firmware for your model and your type of control board.
- * If the required model is not in the “Miner model” menu, then you need to leave “DETECT AUTOMATICALLY” and set pre-downloaded vnish firmware for the model used when installing the recovery image.
Next, you will need to additionally update the miner via the Web interface with the pre-downloaded Vnish firmware for your model and your type of control board download the UPDATE Vnish nand UPDATE version from our vnish website.
