Instructions for installing VNISH firmware on BITMAIN factory firmware older than February 2024

Introduction

Bitmain has closed the ability to install third-party firmware in the factory firmware starting from March 2024, you need to downgrade the factory firmware to an earlier version to install VNISH firmware

FOR 19/L7 series: Download the SD recovery image for the required miner model and control board type (Xilinx, amlogic, BB, cvitek) from our website, after installing which you can install the Vnish firmware using the VNISH TOOLKIT for flashing without an SD card directly into the miner’s NAND.

FOR 21 series: Download the stock bitmain recovery image for S21, T21, S21hydro from February 2024, after installing which you can install the firmware Vnish using the utility VNISH TOOLKIT for flashing without an SD card directly into the miner’s NAND.

FOR S21pro/S21xp/S21_imm/S21xp_imm models: you need to download and use the image from S19xp after installing which you can install the firmware Vnish using the VNISH TOOLKIT utility for flashing without an SD card directly into the miner’s NAND.

Instructions for installing the recovery image

  1. You must use a flash drive or SD card with a capacity of up to 32GB and format it to FAT32. It is recommended to use a USB flash drive with an OTG adapter for AMLOGIC control boards.
  2. Unpack the archive for your type of control board into the root of the flash drive (sd card).
  3. Connect the SD card or OTG adapter with the flash drive to the switched off miner.
  4. Turn on the miner and wait until the green LED on the front panel of the miner lights up (and stays on). This will mean that the firmware process has been completed successfully. This process takes no more than one minute.
  5. Turn off the miner’s power and remove the SD card or OTG adapter with the flash drive from the control board.
  6. Turn on the miner’s power and wait for it to boot, then use VNISH TOOLKIT following the instructions in point 9 you need to manually specify the model of your miner in the “Miner model” field. If the required model is not available, then you need to leave DETECT AUTOMATICALY and the firmware for S19 XP will be installed. In this case, you will need to additionally update the Vnish firmware for your model and type of control board via the Web interface by downloading the web nand update version from our vnish website.
